Design Your Composite Deck with Portico™ Decking to Fit Your Style

With so many options available for stone patios these days, you may think that there is not much you can do to alter the design of your composite deck, but that is simply not the case. From color and texture to wood grain and fastening, there are more features than ever before that work to construct a deck design that is as unique as you are. With Portico™ decking, your composite deck can be designed to fit your distinct style, whether it is contemporary or traditional.

Create a Unique Design for Your Composite Deck by Means of:
Wood Grain Directions – Unlike other composite materials, the grain on Portico™ composite decking products is directional. Different looks can be achieved by laying the decking in the same or altering directions. Portico™ makes it easy for you to tell the wood grain direction by affixing a directional label to each deck board.

Fastening System Options – Typically an issue of deck construction, fastening systems also play a role in deck design. The fastening system should be considered during the design phase and when you are choosing one of our composite decking products. Portico™ requires two fasteners at each end but only one fastener per joist, and Portico™ Eclipse comes highly recommended due to the hidden fasteners that create a smooth, unblemished, surface.

Composite Deck Board Orientations – There is no set standard that says you are required to position your deck boards horizontally from one end to the other. But for one reason or another, many homeowners have utilized that design for years. Today, deck designs are becoming more elaborate and one way to set your deck apart from that of your neighbors is to experiment with composite deck board orientation. Place the boards diagonally on one platform and horizontally on another or diagonally on both platforms at different angles. The orientation is limited only to your imagination.

When designing your composite deck, the most important thing is to get as creative as you want, while ensuring that the deck is structurally sound and within code requirements. Read more about our composite decking materials to find the right product to fit your style.
